X-Hab 3D’s 3DCP system requires only two to three people to set up and operate and can be transported fully assembled in a standard shipping container or on a trailer behind a pick-up truck. It can be programmed to print just about any military structure, including barracks, protective shelters for equipment and supplies, hardened bunkers, medical facilities, command-and-control centers, security infrastructure for base perimeters such as T-walls, Jersey barriers, and much more. For the commercial sector, the same 3DCP system can print houses, buildings, infrastructure, and more.
Using this 3DCP system as an alternative to conventional construction will significantly reduce the need for transporting extensive equipment, supplies, and personnel over long distances. In this way, the Maryland Air National Guard aims to address the U.S. military’s vulnerability to large, snaking supply lines in establishing and maintaining a field-based presence in conflict zones around the world.

The use of concrete composite materials will result in much safer structures for military personnel and equipment than traditional stick-built construction, according to Vickers.
